• Using the OpenOffice software is relatively easier, you can learn it fast and create your own cards.
• The following templates are created using OpenOffice.
• When you download and open them, you will see a dialog box that says, ‘Update all links?'. Please choose the ‘No' option.
• The reason being, the templates in this document are created this way: there are 10 templates, 9 of them blank, and the 1st one is a sample that depicts what needs to be typed on the card.
• If you click ‘Yes', the sample information will get copied on all of them, and you will have to edit all of them to insert your information.
• This isn't exactly a tough job, but it can be time-consuming and tedious.
• Once you change the data on the sample card, click on ‘Synchronize labels', and the information will get copied on all the other cards.
• You can change all the information―the company name, your name, even add the logo and design and color, if you find them unsatisfactory.

How to Create Templates With OpenOffice?

• The OpenOffice suite consists of great options to create business card templates.
• Under the ‘File' option, click on ‘New', then go down to either ‘Business Cards' or ‘Labels'.
• Using the former option is a tad bit complicated, and hence, many prefer using the ‘Labels' format.
• When you click on ‘Labels', you will find a dialog box with three tabs―'Labels', ‘Format', and ‘Options'.
• Click on ‘Labels' and choose the ‘Sheet' option.
• Under ‘Brand' and ‘Type', you can choose whatever you want (if you are familiar with OpenOffice, of course), and if you are a new user, choose ‘Avery A4' under ‘Brand', and either ‘L7413 Business Card' or ‘L7414 Business Card' or ‘L7415 Business Card' under ‘Type'.
• Now, click on the ‘Format' tab.
• You will not have to do much here, since you have selected the ‘Type' in the previous section.
• If, however, you select ‘User' under ‘Type' instead of any of the three options mentioned above, you will have to enter the dimensions yourself in the ‘Format' section.
• Next, click on the ‘Options' tab. Here, check the ‘Synchronize contents' option.
• This enables the data on one template to be carefully and accurately mapped on to the others.
• After that, click on ‘New Document', and you will be directed to your page, which has 10 card templates.
• The required dimensions will have divided your page into 10 available cards, on which you will have to start your graphic designing.
• Remember, you can work only on the 1st template, the others will be in a ‘read only' mode. Therefore, any changes, any designing, typing, etc., will be done on the 1st template.
• The graphics can be of your choice, you have a neveending list of options for this one.
• You can use symbols and ‘Clipart' features to add logos.
• Click on ‘Area' in the ‘Format' section to add color.
• Use text-boxes and other tools to make your card as attractive as possible, yet, make sure you maintain the subtlety; it is after all a business card, you don't want to scare people away.
• After completing the designing, click on ‘Synchronize Labels'. It is a small dialog box that floats in one corner of the screen; clicking on it will duplicate your data in the blink of an eye.
• Print the cards and start using them.
